Introduction
Compass answers questions about your project in plain language. You type what you want to know, and it comes back with a short written answer and the captures it drew on. It replaces the keyword search in CupixWorks 4.0.
Compass is AI and can make mistakes. Use its answers as a guide to where to look, and check the captures it cites.
Where to Open It
Wherever you open it, Compass is the same panel on the right. What changes is what it searches, and the question box tells you: it reads Ask about followed by the team or project being searched.
| Where | How to open it | What it searches |
|---|---|---|
| The CupixWorks dashboard | Get started on the Compass card, or Ask about your project at the top right | Every project you can see in the team |
| SiteView, SiteInsights, AssetAtlas | The Compass icon at the top right of the topbar | The project you are in |
- Compass card - Get started opens Compass to ask across all projects.
- Ask about your project - opens the same panel from any dashboard page.
- Question box - "Ask about" names what is searched; here, the whole team.
- Compass - opens and closes the panel.
- New chat, history, close - start a fresh conversation, see past questions, or close the panel.
- Question box - here it reads "Ask about MultiBuilding Projects Project", so only this project is searched.
Asking a Question
- Type your question in the box the way you would say it. There is no mode to pick and no syntax to learn.
- Press Enter. Compass shows that it is searching while it works.
- Read the answer: a short summary first, then the captures it used.
- Your question.
- The answer - a summary of what was found, followed by what it could not do with your question.
Name what you are looking for and the level, as the project knows them. If part of a question cannot be applied, Compass says so at the end of the answer. For example, it may say a level was matched only as words in the search rather than used as a filter. Rephrase or narrow the question when that happens.
Questions that work, by the job you are doing:
| If you are... | Ask something like |
|---|---|
| Running a portfolio | "Which sites slipped against schedule last week?" |
| Running a project | "What's the status of the rebar on Level 4?" |
| Walking the site | "When did we last capture the east stairwell on Level 3?" |
| Capturing | "Which 360 captures from April covered the east stairwell, and who operated them?" |
| Coordinating BIM | "Which BIM file is referenced for the Level 5 mechanical model?" |
Follow-ups keep their context. Answer Compass's own suggestion, or add "only on L4" or "and the previous one", and it carries the thread rather than starting over.
Reading the Citations
Under the answer is a list of the captures Compass used, headed by where they came from and how many there are (for example, Cupix Intelligence · Site photos · 10 of ≥166). Each card shows a thumbnail, the capture date and the level.
- Click Open on a card.
- The viewer moves to that capture, and the date at the top left changes to match.
- The panel stays open, so you can work down the list without losing the answer.
- A citation card - capture date, level and Open.
- The capture date - now shows the date of the card you opened.
- Copy, thumbs up, thumbs down - copy the answer, or rate it.
What It Can Search
Compass searches across the project's data rather than one type of it: captures and their Capture Intelligence results, SpatialNotes, and the documents attached to the project.
Questions about progress and change between dates, such as "what changed on L4 between May and November", use SiteInsights data. If you do not have SiteInsights access on the project, Compass says SiteInsights access is required and suggests other questions instead. Ask your workspace admin about access.
History and Feedback
- History - opens your past questions.
- Activity - each past question, sorted Newest or Oldest. Open returns to that conversation.
Every answer has copy, thumbs up and thumbs down under it. Rating answers helps improve Compass.
