CupixWorks 5.0 — this article is still being finished. Screenshots marked to be replaced show the right screens and will be retaken before launch. Taken from a build where some on-screen labels had not been translated yet.
The colours are a time window, not a schedule verdict
This is the thing to hold on to, because the obvious guess is wrong. The colour does not tell you whether work is on time, late or done. It tells you whether an element belongs to the slice of time you have selected.
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Solid blue | The element belongs to the selected time window. |
| Grey | The element does not belong to the selected window. |
| Its own BIM texture, uncoloured | The element sits before the window — work already complete at the date you are looking at. |
| Not drawn at all | The element sits after the window — not started yet at the date you are looking at. |
So moving the window forward does not repaint the model according to progress. It moves which slice is picked out in blue, pushes what is now behind you into its own texture, and stops drawing what has not arrived yet.
The product shows no colour legend anywhere on screen, so the table above is the key — worth keeping to hand the first few times you use the timeline.
Selecting a task in the Gantt
Clicking a row in the Gantt narrows the same idea to one task: that row's elements stay as they are and everything else fades back, drawn with transparency rather than hidden. You keep the context and lose the competition for attention.
An empty-looking model is the view working
At a date before the work in view is scheduled to start, the model pane can be almost empty — a few faint lines and nothing solid. That is the rule above, not a failure to load: elements after the window are not drawn, and if everything in view is still ahead of you there is nothing left to draw.
4D off, and models you have not switched on
Two states have nothing to do with the window, and both are easy to mistake for it.
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Everything plain and shaded, 4D Off | No date is applied at all. The timeline is not filtering anything. |
| Pale ghosted wireframe with the message This task's BIM elements are in models that are not turned on in the BIM Selector | The elements belong to a model you have not switched on. Switch it on in the BIM Selector to see them properly — the window is not what is hiding them. |
Two renderings this article cannot explain yet
Magenta. The same ductwork, same camera, with the window moved to Aug 14–20 — past that task's Jul 24 end date — is drawn magenta rather than blue or grey. ? The rule above does not account for a third colour, and development is confirming what it marks.
The translucent wireframe seen without the BIM Selector message. The ghosted treatment is explained when the product prints its message with it; where the same treatment appears without one, it has not been mapped. ?
One honest caveat about the frames
The recording cannot separate “grey because it is outside the window” from “its own BIM texture, which happens to be grey” on this particular model — the model's untinted surfaces are themselves grey. The rule above is the product owner's; the frames illustrate it rather than prove that distinction.
