Introduction
Compass is in beta. It is available to use and still being developed, so what it can answer will grow between releases.
Compass answers questions about your project in plain language. You type what you want to know, and it comes back with a short answer and the captures, notes, and documents it drew on.
It replaces the keyword search in CupixWorks 4.0. There is no separate search box to fall back on.
Note: Compass fully replaces the legacy keyword search at general availability. Any article, bookmark, or habit built around the old search needs revisiting.
Where to Open It
However you open Compass, you get the same right-side panel. What differs is the scope chip at the top, which tells you what is being searched.
- The CupixWorks dashboard — a full-width search bar on every dashboard view. Scope defaults to every project you can see.
- Inside SiteView, SiteInsights, and AssetAtlas — the Compass icon at the top right of the Topbar. Scope defaults to the project you are in.
- A keyboard shortcut — ⌘E on a Mac, Ctrl+E on Windows — anywhere.

Asking a Question
Type the question the way you would say it. You do not pick a mode, name a data source, or learn a syntax.
What comes back is a short written answer followed by the evidence, grouped by where it came from. A Searching... state appears while it works.

Asking "show me photos of electrical rough in" returns a set of dated findings, each naming what its image shows — the level, the date, and what is visible in it.

Follow-ups keep their context. Ask "only the data centre builds" or "and the previous one" and Compass carries the thread rather than starting over.
Reading the Citations
Under the answer is a list of citation cards. Each card carries a thumbnail, the capture date, the level, and an Open link.
- Click Open on a card and that capture loads in the viewer behind the panel.
- The panel stays open, so you can work down the list without losing the answer.

Note: Compass cites what it used. If an answer has no cards, it is a narrative answer rather than one drawn from specific captures — read it as a summary, not as evidence.
What It Can Search
Compass searches across the project's data rather than one type of it: captures and their Capture Intelligence outputs, SpatialNotes, and the documents attached to the project.

Scoping a Question
The scope chip at the top of the panel is clickable. You can widen a question from this project to all projects mid-conversation without retyping it.
