Where projects are created
Open a workspace and its Projects page shows the project cards: Grid view or List view, Active or Archived, a search box, and New Project at the top right. Each card shows the project's map or image, its building count, address, last capture date and a SiteView shortcut.
Clicking a card opens a detail panel:
- Members, with Manage Access
- Details: Project number, Address, Type, Subtype, Contract Value, Last Captured
- Info: the project ID, its Creator and when it was Created
- Open in SiteView and Open Project Center
A field left empty that the project should have, such as the project number, shows a warning mark.
The card's own menu offers Open, Rename, Archive and Delete. Archiving is covered in Archiving a project, and what it returns.
The five-step wizard
New Project opens a wizard with five steps down its left edge. Required fields are marked, Next checks them before moving on, and nothing is created until Create Project on the last step.
| # | Step | What it asks for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Profile (Project details) | Name (required); Project Type and Subtype, each with Add New; Project Number; Contract Value with its Currency; Length Unit and Area Unit (required, seeded from the team defaults); Total Project Area (required); an optional Project Image (JPG or PNG, 1 MB at most) |
| 2 | Location (Address & origin) | The Project Address (required) and Bearing; and the Project Origin Coordinates switch (below) |
| 3 | Capture Types (Allowed methods) | 3D Map, Virtual Tour and 360° Photo, each allowed or not for this project |
| 4 | Members (Admins & members) | The Project Admins and Project Members to add, with the product's own lines for what each grade can do |
| 5 | Summary (Review & create) | Everything above, read back, and Create Project |
On Create Project the wizard closes, the new card appears in the Active grid, and a Project created toast confirms it was added to the workspace.
Where the choices come from
- Project types and subtypes come from Team Settings › Standards. A project can only be given a type somebody defined; Add New in the wizard adds one to that list.
- Capture Types starts from the team's Allowed Capture Methods on Team Settings › General. What you set here is the project's own copy, and it can be narrowed later on Configuration › Properties (Configuration - the project's own settings).
- Units start from the team's Default Units.
Location, and the one decision you cannot undo
The Location step, Set Project Location, takes the project's Address (required) and its Bearing. It also carries the Project Origin Coordinates switch, which gives the project a real-world anchor. Turn it on and the coordinate fields appear, with a warning: Changing the project origin relocates all project datasets, such as BIM, plans, and captures. The project origin must be located within 16 km of the project datasets.
What the coordinates are, and how to fill each field, is explained in Skeleton - sites, buildings, levels and coordinates.
Decide before you create the project. The switch is only offered at creation. Once a project has origin coordinates you can change them (a different EPSG, a corrected bearing, a new origin point) on Configuration › Properties › Project Location (see Configuration - the project's own settings), but you cannot switch them off, and a project created without them cannot turn them on later on that page. Georeferencing is a one-way decision made here.
The model has not changed since CupixWorks 4.0: values set up there mean the same things. What moved is where the controls live.
After creation
Open Project Center leads to the project's own admin pages. Configuration holds everything the wizard set, for editing; see Configuration - the project's own settings. All six admin pages are introduced in Project Setup - the six admin pages and how a project is built.
