Two folders, and which is which
CupixConnect writes to two folders on your computer, and confusing them is why clear the cache sometimes gets misread as delete my downloads.
| Folder | What is in it | Safe to clear? |
|---|---|---|
| Download folder | Every SiteView file you have downloaded. | No — this is your data. |
| Cache folder | Temporary files used during each upload and download. | Yes — it is rebuilt as needed. |
Both paths are shown in Settings, each with a Change button.
If an upload or download keeps failing
Clear the cache folder first. It is the cheapest fix and it resolves the most common cause — a part-written temporary file from an earlier interrupted transfer.
Open Settings, note the cache folder path, close CupixConnect, delete the contents of that folder, and start again. Delete the contents, not the folder.
If it still fails, the next thing to check is network speed — see FAQ: Network speed issues.
Moving either folder
Use Change beside the folder in Settings. Move the cache folder to a drive with more free space if uploads of large point clouds are failing; move the download folder if you want SiteViews to land somewhere your backup covers.
Cupix recommends clearing out older files monthly — downloads accumulate quietly and a SiteView is not small.
